Future Project On Cloudscapes

Hopefully by the end of the year, I will have an entire roll of cloudscapes. For those of who do not know what it is, it is the photography of clouds or sky. My concentration is nature and a little bit of architecture here and there. Its difficult finding a perfect place for the type of work I want because of where I live. I can't really find a place in Brockton to take beautiful sceneries and I am looking for a better place in Boston, since I spend most of my time there. These pictures below are what I aim to have, but in my style obviously.

Moving Parts: The Invented Landscapes of Carlos Diaz

During the Industrial Revolution, machines controlled work life as well as leisure. Diaz perfectly captured the time frame in his work of Coney Island. It was known all over the world as the center for entertainment. Its appeal to the people is the fear and pure adrenaline rush of the amusement parks. Tired from work, this would be the break people needed. Diaz emphasized on the surrealism of the machines to illustrate how the idea of danger can actually help working classes stay sane; these machines would prevent us from becoming them. It also brings up an aspect of humanity that often shows up,violence. In his work, he combines the machines of the Industrial Revolution and landscapes of Amusement Parks (such as Coney Island) into one piece of work.Diaz made his work using wood engravings that he cut out and pasted on pictures of amusement parks. This website shows how Diaz worked to fulfill his ideas.
